The North Yorkshire village of Scruton is 5 miles West of Northallerton in the Hambleton area of Yorkshire and held its own solitary race meeting on Wednesday 3rd April 1840. The two race programme opened with the Scruton sweepstakes which went to the apporiately named Scruton Lass, and closed with the Purse of Gold Hurdle which was won by Mr Busby’s Starch. The meeting was well attended but there is no further record of future meetings taking place.
